A must-see not only for art lovers is the gallery in the Teterow station. Where tickets were sold in the past, you now have access to contemporary works of art and top-class handicrafts. On 250 m² of the carefully renovated neoclassical waiting room, architecture, sophisticated painting by regionally and internationally renowned artists, graphics, fashion, ceramics, porcelain, glass, jewelry and even handmade chocolate enter into a delicate symbiosis.
With bimonthly vernissages of changing exhibitions, summer station festivals, special readings, fashion evenings and a lovingly arranged Christmas exhibition, the "Kunstwinter", the gallery is not only a social magnet, but also Teterow's "wacky" calling card for rail travelers.
The cheerful enamel art of the Halle pop art artist Moritz Götze on the brick facade serves as a figurehead for the interior design. The Kunstverein Teterow e. V. as the sponsor of the gallery also organizes the popular Central-Mecklenburg pottery market every first weekend in August, which has long been a fixed date in the calendar of ceramic fans from near and far. More than 70 professional international workshops always invite several thousand visitors to take a relaxed stroll and rummage in the park at the mill pond. Right in the heart of the old town, the event also entices visitors to stroll through the historic Teterow ring roads.
Every time an illustrious company comes together for the popular gallery theme parties, for example when ladies and gentlemen with golden top hats and cigarette holders revive the 1920s, the passing travelers gape in astonishment from the train window: What is this crazy station? You'd like to get off the train and join in!
